UCR Forum on Venezuela was criticized for being pro-Maduro

A “conversation” about the situation in Venezuela , organized by the School of Sociology of the University of Costa Rica (UCR) generated a wave of protests in social networks and in the UCR.

The activity promised a conversation “from progressive positions” on the situation of Simón Bolívar’s nation. One of the guests was the Venezuelan ambassador to Costa Rica , Jesús Javier Arias Fuenmayor, but the absence of spokesmen from the opposition to the regime of Nicolás Maduro was remarkable.

The critics were not delayed. The activity, scheduled for Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., closed its doors without resident Venezuelans in Costa Rica or opposition supporters. They indicated that there was only capacity for 40 people, although the invitation had been open to the public.

Despite the fact that the University offered a larger room for the activity, the organizers rejected it.

People protested and lamented that the university allowed a biased activity and supports a regime in which there is hunger, poverty and murder of students.

The UCR promotes talks for the Government of Venezuela. How sad to see that they support dictatorships, famines and murders of students,”

reads a commented on Twitter.

On Facebook, some of the comments indicated they should also have Venezuelan guests who do not work for the government, to avoid half-truths.

The Costa Rican people reject and condemn the aberrant totalitarian acts of the Maduroist narco-government. Do they need to make a “forum” to talk about the socialist trash that has drained #Venezuela?”
