The Museum of Zoology at the University of Costa Rica (UCR) will celebrate its 50th anniversary on a large scale.
From November 8th to 13th a special exhibition of the zoological collections of the institution will be open to the public and lectures will be provided.
The biological collections preserved in the Museum have been collected since the sixties, so they are of great scientific and historical interest,”
said the institution.
The museum opened in 1976 and it now has 24 collections of crustaceans, insects, molluscs, echinoderms, aquatic insects, arachnids, amphibians, reptiles, among others.
Here we are preserving the zoo heritage of the country, and we are the most important reference for the research in zoology,”
said Odalisca Breedy Shadid, director of the Museum of Zoology.
The exhibition is held in the Multipurpose Room on the first floor of the School of General Studies at the UCR in San Pedro de Montes de Oca.
On November 11th there will also be guided tours at the Museum, at 10 in the morning, 1 and 3 in the afternoon.
