A significant increase in the number of people with work and a stable unemployment rate are the main findings of the Continuous Employment Survey (ECE), carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC).
During the first three months of 2017 there is an increase of 68 thousand employed people, compared to the same period in 2016.
This represents a “significant increase”. However, the national employment rate remains at 54%, as the working-age population also grew in recent months.
Out of 2.06 million people employed, 68% are men and the remaining percentage are women.
Unemployment, on the other hand, remained at 9.1% during the first quarter of 2017. In the same period in 2016 the rate was 9.5%.
