Although this Saturday night the union said it supported the agreement, on Sunday afternoon the National Union of Employees of the Fund and Social Security (UNDECA) changed its mind and rejected the document, in addition to keeping the strike in force.
In an official communication from the Board of Directors, they stipulated that this change arose after an extraordinary session held on Sunday morning.
In the communication, they did not explain why the sudden change of criteria. Now, the only supporters of the agreement are the nurses. In contrast, the National Association of Public and Private Employees (ANEP), led by Albino Vargas, were the first to announce their opposition in the morning hours, followed by the organizations of the educational sector, specifically the Association of Professionals in Second Teaching (APSE), the National Association of Educators (ANDE) and the Union of Costa Rican Educators (SEC).
President Carlos Alvarado did not hesitate to criticize the direction of the union leaders, since they were present during the eight negotiation sessions with the government that resulted in the agreement.
The meeting scheduled for Sunday was postponed until Monday, although only a few unions agreed to go to a dialogue table.
