The representatives of the unions will continue the strike announced for August 5th. According to them, “a serious proposal from the government is missing,” although they are still meeting with the Minister of the Presidency and the Minister of Labor in the building of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS).
Rodrigo López, Secretary General National Association of Nursing Professionals (ANPE), mentioned that the government representatives did not bring any proposals and simply repeated the same speech.
The unionist affirmed that implementing the recently approved fiscal rule in the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) is
limiting the growth and development of the institution, to tie the institution everywhere and in all forms.”
The government called the unions to a meeting in the CCSS building in order to reach an agreement so that the strike ends.
The current Presidency Minister, Victor Morales Mora, and the Labor Minister, Steven Nuñez, attended the appointment by the government authorities.
López, on the other hand, called on citizens not to show up at the medical centers in case of having pending appointments because they ensure that the services provided by the CCSS will be affected by the movement.
The necessary basic services are going to be covered, emergencies are going to be covered, emergency operations are going to be covered, everything that involves safeguarding human life. But, at this time we would be making a definite stoppage of a large number of services within these external consultation, we tell the insured not to come so that they are not being subject to mistreatment,” said López.
This movement is called for 48 hours.
