More than 60 graffiti artists from Latin America were in charge of filling Calle de la Amargura with life and color, in San Pedro de Montes de Oca.
The initiative was promoted by the Pausa Urbana collective together with the General Services Office of the University of Costa Rica (UCR), in order to make a physical, recreational, and cultural renovation of that place.
More than 30 national artists and around 35 graffiti artists from countries such as Colombia, Brazil, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, and Chile participated in the First International Graffiti Encounter.
The walls of the Saprissa building of the UCR was one of the spaces that was transformed into an open-air art gallery, by the hand of renowned exponents of urban art such as Mush, Humo One, EMPY eks / odv and Onesto.
We want to create a space of artistic approach where citizens can enjoy a gallery, and also change a bit that image of Calle de la Amargura, although it is true that there were graffiti before, the idea was to renew the space,”
said Jessica Álvarez of the TCU Calle de la Amargura.
