Vaccine against the papilloma virus will be applied at the end of May

The 35 thousand doses against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) arrived in the country and the vaccination campaign will begin the last week of May.

The executive president of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), Román Macaya, said that they are going through a process of quality control, and then they will be applied.

The doses will be applied only to girls who are 10 years old. It consists of two doses and they are completely safe. The objective is to protect the population against this virus, which can be deadly.

As part of the call to parents not to oppose vaccinating their daughters, Macaya said, “Two of my daughters will be vaccinated in Costa Rica. As a parent, it seems to me that we should all be aware that cervical cancer is preventable and in large part due to this vaccination.”
