Vamos is a new political party that aims to decriminalize and regulate marijuana in Costa Rica, as declared its president, Margarita Salas.
The provincial party is from San José and it will also fight for same-sex marriage and induced termination of pregnancy (abortion).
We believe that women own their bodies,
declared Salas.
Salas explained that the party is an initiative linked to several social movements in order to promote issues that, despite being controversial, are necessary in the country.
She said that the policy of prevention and treatment of addictions has failed. As consequence, they want to propose marijuana legalization and to improve the human rights agenda.
They will also promote gender equality, as well as the secular state because they consider it is essential in order to pass projects related to human rights.
In addition, they comtemplate the idea of switching to a parliamentary system, presenting reforms to improve the working conditions and fighting for better cities with modern public transport systems.
Vamos intends to get several seats in the next Legislature, but the applications will not be defined until next year.
