Wálter Espinoza, director of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), said that the victims of “Matapobres” (the poor-killer) in Desamparados were locked in a cement tomb inside his house.
The OIJ managed to raid the house on Thursday at 2 p.m. and found four men and a woman “in a kind of cement tomb that was protected by a gate and that held them captive,” said Espinoza.
The Director explained they had all been there for several days and were subjected to labor exploitation, degrading treatment and other activities.
We arrested a subject with surname Arley Acuna who ran the activity. Today, we rescued victims involved in construction and domestic activities. They worked from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. with virtually no food of any kind,”
said Espinoza.
The five people are homeless and Arley Acuña only gave them drugs in order to submit them.
The victims were given food and medical care.
In addition, we are working with institutions related to the issue of human trafficking to give them a more holistic and better care. We are going to move them to a hospital so they can assess their health status.”
Espinoza said that they all had bruises and injuries on their faces because they were subjected to inhumane treatment.

In addition to “Matapobres”, his wife, a minor, and a fourth subject were also arrested for participating in this slavery.
This fourth man was the one who forced them by threatening them with guns and blows to carry out the work activities.
The work of the OIJ was carried out by the Section of Various Crimes and Trafficking in Persons thanks to a complaint received last Saturday by the sixth victim of this group.
Arley Acuña had a history of various crimes such as kidnap, attempted murder and drug trafficking.
