One of the cameras installed near Turrialba Volcano caught the emanation of incandescent material from the active crater of the colossus.
The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) reported that the output of that material occurred between 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday and 12:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
This does not mean that it is molten material or lava, as it is sometimes erroneously pointed out.
This hot material inside the crater is reflected in the column of vapor that is constantly emanated, and this creates the incandescent image we saw,”
said OVSICORI through a publication made on Facebook.
A report published on Tuesday by that entity stated that the eruptive activity declined considerably in the last hours.
The tremor (internal earthquake) registered seismic stations located in the area has dropped in amplitude, showing only small increases of short duration, which have been accompanied by ash emissions,”
explained the institution.
The emanations of materials, gases and ash, do not exceed 500 meters high.
