A video recorded by residents of Limón shows the formation of a waterspout or mini tornado in the vicinity of the coast of Limón on Thursday morning.
Rebeca Morera, an expert from the National Meteorological Institute (IMN) explained that this was generated by a cloud called cumulonimbus that was towards the sea side.
It is a rotating movement but of short duration. It is simply a small whirlwind but what formed it may be originating rains in the sea in this case. It can be dangerous for those who are at sea,”
explained the expert.
According to Morera, this type of phenomenon is common both on the Atlantic coast and in the Pacific coast of the country.
