Why are snakes so important in Guanacaste?

The Guanacaste Conservation Area (ACG) launched a campaign to prevent people who find snakes in their homes (or other places) from killing them. Instead, they ask to immediately contact the officials of the National System of Conservation Areas (Sinac) through the telephone line 1192 for environmental complaints.

In the same way, officials urgently need to contact line 2666-5051 of the ACG.

According to specialists, these individuals play a very important ecological role and are species that are affected by the expansion of human beings.

These reptiles play an important role in the natural environment and the food chain. As effective hunters and ambush predators, snakes use their highly developed senses of sight, smell, hearing and touch to locate, recognize and track their prey,”
