Witness says beheaded child entered the suspect’s home

August 29, 2016 by Staff News Writer

A witness allegedly saw the 8-year-old boy who was beheaded in Guácimo on Saturday entering the house of the suspect, named Campos Mendoza.

Preliminary investigations of the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) indicate that the minor left his home around 4 p.m. heading to a neighbor’s house, but he never reached his destination.

At 6:30 p.m., the child’s parents decided to go to the neighbor’s house to look for their son, but they were told he never arrived.

In that moment, a witness told the relatives and neighbors they had seen the child entering the suspect’s home, so they went to the place and found traces of what it looked like blood in the driveway, and there was no one in the house.

The search for the child was extended until 10:40 p.m. when his body was found on the shore of Jiménez River. Bailiffs confirmed that the child was beheaded and that the body had several stab wounds in different parts.

The remains of the victim were taken to the Judicial Morgue, to perform the respective autopsy.
The suspect was brought before the Public Ministry to determine his legal status.
