Yellow alert in the Pacific due to heavy rains

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) declared a yellow alert in the North Pacific due to heavy rains yesterday, which affected several areas in Guanacaste.

Lidier Esquivel, head of Research and Risk Analysis of the entity, reported that there were incidents in Nosara, Nadayure, Nicoya and Santa Cruz due to heavy rains that flooded homes and some bridges and roads.

The field evaluation work is being carried out in accordance with what the National Meteorological Institute (IMN) has indicated to us. There is a low pressure system that has affected this territory, with rains that in some cases have exceeded 200 millimeters,”

said Esquivel.

Esquivel also stressed that there is a green alert throughout the Pacific, but the alert level in the North Pacific was raised, because these conditions are expected to be maintained at least one more day.
