Yolanda Oreamuno bridge is opened, but works haven’t finished

The works on Yolanda Oreamuno bridge, which connects San José with Heredia in La Pozuelo, have not finished, although the bridge has been operating since yesterday morning.

The cars can already circulate in both directions, however, the road surface marking, the placement of traffic lights and the road lighting are still missing.

Therefore, at certain times of the day and at least 2 nights, the road will be partially closed. It will be coordinated by the Traffic Police.

Due to this situation, authorities asked about 34,000 drivers who use this route day by day to be careful.

Road surface marking is expected to be completed within 15 days, while lighting will start in 3 months, as explained by Luis Carlos Gómez, a construction engineer.

The new works include 2 9.96-meters-wide bridges. This allows to have 2 lanes in each direction.

There are sidewalks for pedestrians, with a walking space of 1.2 meters wide. Those who walk on foot will be separated from the road by a concrete railing.

The final calculations indicate that the country invested $ 8.6 million, or about $ 4.6 billion, in this construction.
