At least 40 young people competed in a hackathon, whose objective is to create a prototype for a security application, especially designed for tourists who arrive in the country.
The app will be developed by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) as a response to the attacks suffered by two foreigners in Santa Teresa and Tortuguero.
The activity involved software, design, and tourism programmers, who compete for 30 continuous hours to develop the best inputs for the official mobile application.
Andrea Maradiaga, representative of Ideas in Action, explained that together with the ICT and the US Embassy, they are looking to collaborate so that tourists are safer in the country.
